Connect Claude to your Karatry workspace and ask in plain words — who owes you, what’s out on memo, what’s running low. Claude looks the answers up in your own Karatry records. Anything it suggests adding waits for an admin to approve it.
Type the question the way you’d ask your office manager. Claude chooses which Karatry lookups to run and answers from your own records.
“Who should I call about money this week, and how much is past due?”
“Which memos are overdue, and how much do we have out on memo with each customer?”
“What’s running low, and do we have enough of style ST-1042 for open orders?”
“Which work orders are late, and what still has to be made for open orders?”
“How much fine gold are we long or short, and what’s in the scrap pool?”
“What does style ST-1042 cost to make at our current metal prices?”
“How are sales over the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before?”
“Add Bella Fine Jewelers in Miami as a new customer.” Claude files this as a suggestion, and it waits in AI Proposals until an admin approves it.
Karatry connects to Claude as a custom connector: you give Claude one web address, then approve the connection in Karatry.
You’ll paste this into Claude:
https://app.karatry.com/api/mcpClaude Code, Anthropic’s terminal app, needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan or a Console account; it is not part of the Free plan. It connects with two commands. In a terminal, add the connector:
claude mcp add --transport http karatry https://app.karatry.com/api/mcpThen, inside Claude Code, type /mcp, choose karatry and pick Authenticate. Claude Code opens your browser at Karatry’s sign-in. The same rules apply as in the Claude app: sign in with an admin account whose email is verified, and click Allow. Karatry’s consent screen will say that the answer goes to a program on your computer; that program is Claude Code, so allow it only if you just ran these commands yourself.
When Claude connects for the first time, it takes you to Karatry. Sign in with your admin account. Karatry then shows a screen titled Connect an app to Karatry, which lists what the app can and can’t do. Click Allow to connect, or Deny to stop. You go back to Claude, and you can start asking.
A connected app works as your workspace’s AI helper account, which Karatry creates for you. That account can’t sign in, and it doesn’t take a seat.
In Karatry, open Settings → Connected apps. Disconnect removes one app for good. Switching the AI helper off pauses every connected app at once, until you switch it back on. You can also remove the connector in Claude, under Customize > Connectors; to cut Karatry’s side as well, disconnect it in Karatry too.
The same promises Karatry shows you on the “Connect an app to Karatry” screen before you click Allow.
Customers, orders, invoices, memos, stock, production, metal and costing. A lookup reads your workspace and changes nothing.
A new customer, vendor, product, inventory item or repair ticket, parts for a style’s bill of materials, or a note on a customer’s account. Each suggestion lands in AI Proposals in Karatry.
A suggestion does nothing until an admin approves it in Karatry. If no admin approves it within 7 days, it expires: it stays in AI Proposals, where it can be dismissed but no longer approved.
Claude can’t move money or stock, and it can’t change anything without an admin approving it first.
Claude sees the workspace whose admin connected it, and can’t see any other workspace.
If your trial ended without a subscription, your workspace is read-only: Claude’s lookups keep working, and new suggestions are refused until you subscribe.
Karatry gives Claude 47 tools: 40 lookups that read your workspace and change nothing, and 7 proposals that file a suggestion for an admin to approve.
Each one files a suggestion in AI Proposals. Nothing is created or changed until an admin approves it in Karatry.
What Claude sees, what Karatry keeps, and how to switch it off.
Claude receives the results of the lookups it runs. It handles them under your Claude account’s terms and settings.
Each lookup or proposal Claude makes writes a row to your workspace’s audit log: the tool, the details Claude asked for (with secrets removed), the time, and how it turned out.
Claude signs in with OAuth. Its access lasts one hour. The refresh token that renews it is replaced each time it’s used and expires after 30 days. Karatry stores tokens only in hashed form.
Names, notes and descriptions people typed into Karatry reach Claude wrapped and labelled as untrusted data, so Claude is told to treat them as information, never as instructions.
In Settings → Connected apps, switch the AI helper off and every connected app is refused straight away, until you switch it back on. Disconnect removes one app for good.
Only an admin with a verified email can connect an app, and only an admin can approve what it suggests.
Connecting is an admin’s decision. Sign in with an admin account of your Karatry workspace, or ask an admin to connect. On Claude Team or Enterprise, each person who clicks Connect signs in to Karatry, so each of them needs an admin account. The same is true of Claude Code.
Only an admin with a verified email can connect an app. Check your inbox for Karatry’s verification link, or resend it from Karatry, then reload the Karatry page Claude sent you to, or connect again from Claude. If you created your workspace while connecting, the page Karatry shows right after sign-up has a Finish connecting button: keep that tab open while you verify your email (the link opens a new tab), then click the button there. Otherwise connect again from Claude.
Lookups do. A workspace whose trial ended without a subscription is read-only: Claude can still look things up, but new suggestions are refused until you subscribe in Settings → Billing.
Check Settings → Connected apps in Karatry. If the AI helper is switched off, every connected app is refused; switch it back on. An app that was refused while it was off may ask you to Allow again.
Disconnect is for good, so an admin connects again from Claude: if the connector is still listed in Customize > Connectors, connect it again there; if you removed it, add it again with the steps above. Then sign in to Karatry and click Allow.
