This Cookie Policy explains how Karatry uses cookies and similar technologies on karatry.com. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help sites work, remember choices, and measure usage. We also use similar technologies such as session storage (see Strictly necessary below).
Required for the Site to function and to remember your cookie choice. These are always active and do not require consent. Example: the karatry_consent cookie, which records whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies (and advertising cookies, if we ever add them). It is shared with app.karatry.com so the app honours the same choice, and it lasts 6 months; see “Your choices” for what happens then. Until you choose, the Site also notes in this browser tab's session storage whether our server placed your connection in the United States, so it needn't ask again in that tab; and if your choice doesn't reach our server when you make it, the tab keeps the choice and sends it again from the next page you open there.
Help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it: which pages are visited, how visitors found us, and whether a visit led to a sign-up. We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), which sets cookies named _ga and _ga_… for up to 2 years; Google Analytics keeps the data for up to 14 months. When you create an account, our server tells Google Analytics once that a sign-up happened, under the same choice. That message carries the visitor and session IDs in those cookies (a random number and the times of your first visit and of this one), or new ones when there are none, and whether you signed up by email, from Claude or from ChatGPT, nothing else. The app loads no analytics code in your browser. When these cookies are set depends on where you are; see “Your choices” below.
Would let us measure the performance of our ads and understand which campaigns lead to signups — for example Google Ads and the Meta Pixel. We don't use any today. If we start, they will be set only after you accept a banner that names them, wherever you are, and never while your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
Outside the United States, including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, our consent banner asks first: no analytics or advertising cookies are set unless you click Accept.
In the United States, Google Analytics runs by default, and you can turn it off at any time. Advertising cookies still need your Accept.
We tell visitors in the United States from everyone else by the country of their internet connection, which our host reads from the IP address; we don't store it. If it can't be read, the banner asks. As a backstop, Google keeps analytics cookies off for visitors whose connection it places in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland unless they accept.
Wherever you are, if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics stays off and we don't show the banner; you can still turn analytics on yourself with Cookie settings.
Change your choice anytime with Cookie settings, linked at the bottom of every page. Choosing Decline turns analytics off, deletes the analytics cookies we set, and reloads the page if analytics was already running on it. Your choice lasts 6 months. When it runs out, or if you clear your cookies, we ask again outside the United States; in the United States analytics turns back on by default, and you can turn it off again the same way. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, or contact us at hello [at] karatry [dot] com.
The analytics cookies above are set by Google LLC, which processes the data for us under its Google Analytics terms. Our tag denies Google every advertising signal and switches off Google signals and ad personalization, so Google does not use this data to show you ads. If we add the advertising providers named above (Google Ads, Meta Platforms, Inc.), we will enable them only with your consent.
We may update this Cookie Policy as our tools change. We'll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date.
